Cody York

Cody York was born in Helena, Montana USA. The family moved throughout the U.S. during his childhood, including Indiana, Illinois, California and Colorado.

York presents a multidisciplinary body of work that spans across painting, photography and sculpture. York looks to the interconnection of day and night, and of joy and its broad contrasts, as overarching metaphors for what it’s like to feel, see, love, and live. Connections both in terms of subject matter and visual atmosphere so that light and dark function not so much as concepts or categories, but modes of inquiry engaged in conversation. As a result, his work transcends with impulse and emotion that features both celebratory harmonies and heated tensions.
